Chapter: Chapter 1: murders, betrayals and a messy crime scene.

Murders, betrayals and a messy crime scene.

  • A close-up on Arthur Hawthorne's corpse in a puddle of blood. A mysterious man kneels besides him, caressing his face with his hand: "Sorry, I didn't make it in time". As we move on to the next panel, we can see the stranger's face: it's a pale young man with long, messy black hair and blue eyes. He looks deeply upset: "If only I had been faster..." he can't finish the sentence, as another voice interrupts him: "You wouldn't have missed all the fun". The black haired stranger turns to see someone walking downstairs: "Kane the Shapeshifter, right? I heard a lot about you". "Yes, I know, I'm that awesome" is Kane's reply. We can see part of their face: it's the woman from the prologue... or is it? Her features appears to be changing. Her hair is getting shorter and starts to turn white, and she looks... older. Her voice appears to be changing, too: "So the boss decided to send some support, uh? Good... it's always nice to have a helping hand".

  • A close-up on the brown-haired woman. Three claw marks can be seen on the left side of her face. "I will only bother you for a few minutes, I promise. I was just hoping we could discuss the matter in private, like the good friends we are..." Arthur Hawthorne cuts her off: "Friends? Since when are traitors called 'friends'?" - The woman tries to reply: "Look, we already discussed this. We would have told you before, if only you-" but Arthur Hawthorne doesn't want to hear any of what she has to say. "I don't care for your excuses. You'll have to kill me before you can put your hands on him!" he says, angry. A pause. "Couldn't have expected a better answer" says the woman, as she pulls a knife out of her jacket.

  • We're now inside the house. An old man can be seen sitting at his desk, reading a book. "Poor old Hawthorne..." says the voice out of field "he's probably sittin in his studio now, nose buried in one of his books. As always. He was never much of an adventurer, after all, nor a fan of change." A lightning strikes outside. "And that's what condemned him", the voice continues. In the meantime, the old man raises his head as he hears the doorbell ringing. He doesn't look too happy to meet anyone, though. As he gets downstairs to reach the door, he mutters to himself: "Please, no... not again... it can't be..." a pause. He opens the door. A brown haired woman awaits him outside. "...You" says Arthur Hawthorne, still annoyed. "Hello, Artie", replies the woman, as she lowers her hood.

  • A view on a victorian house seen from the other side of the street. It's dark, and it's raining. "Rain", says a voice out of field, "it fits the scene, doesn't it?" - We get then closer to the house, as the voice continues: "Not a soul around. That's a good thing." - A view on the front door: "...It will make the target easier to reach."
