Character: Aaliyah Jenkins

Police officer and best friend of Adrian, Aaliyah Jenkins is also investigating on the cult’s activities. While she may not practice magic herself, she seems to know more about supernatural creatures than she likes to admit. Patient and down-to-earth, she’s probably one of the few persons in town who can deal with Adrian and his… “charming” character.

  • "Shapeshifters can change their appearance into that of someone else" explains Adrian, "it's a form of magic, although rare, 'cos it requires a lot of skill. It's not inherently evil, but there are always those using it for their sick purposes. Like our friend here, apparently". "Which, in plain English, would mean...?" asks Aaliyah, still confused. "The shapeshifter was going to replace Arthur Hawthorne, but something went wrong", Adrian replies. "The vampire?" "Probably, yes".

  • A transformation sequence. Arthur Hawthorne's "twin" slowly starts changing. His wrinkles disappear, his hair change color, his eyes get darker, until the true features of Kane the Shapeshifter are finally revealed: a thirty-something years old man with dark blonde, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. Aaliyah stares at him in shock, as she keeps talking to Adrian: "I'm afraid the reality might be even crazier than your former theory". Adrian doesn't seem shocked at all, as he takes another look at the two corpses on the floor, realizing what happened: "a shapeshifter? Well, that actually makes a lot more sense!" "Does it?" asks Aaliyah, out of field " 'Cause I can't keep up with this shit at all".

  • "So what's your theory?" Aaliyah asks in a sarcastic and slightly irritated expression, "Arthur Hawthorne, who is actually a vampire, invited his twin for brother for dinner and had him as his main dish?" Adrian lets out another mischievous smile: "And I was the tactless one? But yes, that was my idea. The twin probably used his knife to defend himself, but... a simple knife won't work". "That still seems unlikely", replies Aaliyah, out of field "besides, what would it have to do with the other murders?" Adrian keeps looking down at the corpses, thinking. "It'd be... complicated. Anyway, you're right. Ol' Artie's teeth are fine. Those that aren't missing, I mean. He was not a vampire". "Good, so now that you're done playing dentist, you may want to take a look at this..." is Aaliyah's reply, as she stares in shock at... something that is happening out of field.

  • "Only if you stake, behead or burn them. So far Arthur's body looks pretty intact, yeah... if we don't count the stabs all over his back, that is" replies Adrian, with a mischievous grin. Aaliyah scolds him: "You know, sometimes your lack of tact is really disturbing". "It'd be more disturbing to see him rising from the dead, trust me" Adrian replies back, as the two of them stare at Arthur's corpse on the floor. "Rising from the dead?" Aaliyah looks confused "you mean that Arthur could be still alive?" Adrian reaches forward with his hand to uncover Arthur's teeth: "'Alive' would be quite an euphemism, for a vampire. But yes, if I'm right, our Artie could be just knocked out. These monsters are tough to kill".

    1.14 – Tact

    Nov 16, 2020

  • Aaliyah Jenkins looks confused: "Uh? Are you saying that-" Adrian cuts her off: "I'm not saying anything yet, but there's a possibility. Looks like there was only the two of them, here. And sometimes the solution is easier than it seems". Aaliyah doesn't seem impressed: "Of that I'm well aware, no need for a lesson". She kneels to take a closer look at Arthur's corpse: "However... I thought those creatures turned into ashes, when killed?"

    1.13 – Theories

    Nov 09, 2020

  • Aaliyah Jenkins looks down at Arthur Hawthorne's corpse, saddened: "Nah, not really", she replies. "He never talked much about his family. Or anything else, to be honest." "Huh?" Adrian looks at her, confused "no, I meant... look at his wounds". Aaliyah takes a closer look at the wounds: "They cut his throat, no?" "Look closer", says Adrian. "Is that... a bite?!" Adrian smiles: "Bingo!" - Aaliyah, however, doesn't seem as excited: "Please tell me you're not going to say what I think you're going to say" she replies, worried. A close up on Adrian's face, showing a wolf tattoo on his right cheek: "Well, you can see the marks, too. Now, the real question is: what is good ol' Artie hiding from us?"

    1.12 – Hidden secrets

    Nov 02, 2020

  • Adrian and Aaliyah look at the corpse on the floor. "Well, you know the saying" answers Adrian "keep your friends close and your enemies- URGH!" "What's wrong?" asks Aaliyah. "Is your... trick starting to work?". A close-up on Adrian's eyes, as he replies: "Mh? No, it's just that I can't move much in this mess. Who's the guy without glasses? Hawthorne's twin brother?". The scene moves on to Kane the Shapeshifter's body laying on the floor in a pool of blood. His face is still that of Arthur Hawthorne. "You tell me" replies Aaliyah "I didn't even know he had a brother, let alone a twin" "...Strange", comments Adrian.

    1.11 – The twin

  • "This place is gonna be as crowded as a bus station in a few minutes" says Adrian Webster. "Do you think you can manage this?" asks Aaliyah. "I hope so. Though you know that I can't really control that... thing" is Adrian's reply, as he kneels down to take a closer look at the corpses. "No, I mean... he was a friend of yours, wasn't he?" Aaliyah kneels down next to Adrian and puts a hand on his shoulder. He looks at her, clearly upset, but tries to shrug it off: "Not really. But he was connected to the rest of our group, yes. A quiet guy, for the most part. His... familiarity with the occult could be of great use. He was also into some truly disturbing stuff, though". Aaliyah smiles "Eh... look who's talking".

    1.10 – Strange hobbies

    Oct 19, 2020

  • A view on the corpses of Arthur Hawthorne and Kane the Shapeshifter on the floor. Two characters stand near them, but we can't see their faces yet. "Two more deaths. This is getting out of hand" says the first one. "Admitting it is the first step" comments the second one. "Don't use that tone with me, Webster. You know whose fault this is" the first one snaps. We can see a little more of them, now: a man and a woman. The man, called Adrian Webster, is putting on a pair of gloves, while the woman -Aaliyah Jenkins- has her arms crossed. "Is that supposed to comfort me? Because it doesn't" the man replies back, annoyed. The last panel finally shows the faces of the two. The woman appears sad, as she goes for a gentler approach: "No, I guess not. Listen, I know things haven't been as good since you-" but the man cuts her off "Please, spare me. Let's focus on the crime scene, shall we?"
