Character: Sheriff Crawford

Theodore Benjamin Crawford is the sheriff of Pike County. He does not believe in the supernatural and doesn’t trust Adrian. There seems to be more about the whole situation, but neither him nor Adrian will openly talk about it.

  • Adrian leaves Crawford's office, insisting that he's not going to interfere with the investigation. Crawford warns Adrian that he's still going to keep an eye on him. Adrian repeats that he's not going to do anything stupid. "Just a little research", he tells himself as he walks out of the office.

  • Adrian starts talking about a blood ritual, but Crawford cuts him off. The sheriff doesn't understand what Adrian is talking about, but the hunter is quick to remind him: the crimes being committed are very similar to those happened ten years ago, meaning that the cult responsible for them is still around. Strangely, however, Adrian doesn't seem to be interested in participating to the investigation anymore. Crawford is confused.

  • Adrian points at a polaroid on the table and asks Crawford about it. He doesn't seem to think much of it, but does mention that Kane was part of a group of "satan worshippers". He can't remember the exact name of the demon they worshipped, but Adrian does: Baal-Berith. And then... everything clicks together. Adrian realizes that the thing causing the murders is the same from ten years ago and reminisces about his past investigation and... a possessed woman whose clothes are drenched in blood.

  • Adrian tries to explain his theories in the least supernatural way possible. Crawford has to admit that, given the info he currently has, Adrian appears to be out of the suspect list. However, he also makes sure to mention that he still doesn't trust Adrian and mentions something that happened to the hunter's wife and a "poor boy". He doesn't go much in depth, but his words deeply hurt Adrian, who stays silent for a moment and lowers his head. As Crawford keeps saying that the case is under control and that the police is taking care of it, Adrian notices something among the polaroids scattered on the table.

Adrian says that there was in fact someone else on the crime scene that night, but Crawford immediately assumes that Adrian is going to talk about some more supernatural stuff and cuts him off. Adrian gives up, knowing that there's no use talking to the sheriff.
