Murders, betrayals and a messy crime scene.

  • More views of the cemetery, as the two mysterious voices out of field keep talking. "Have I ever mentioned how much I hate all of this?" says the first voice. "Only 25 times today. Well, 26 now" replies the other one. A short pause. "Wait, did you really keep count?" asks the first voice. "Everyone needs a hobby" jokes the second one. Their "partner in crime" doesn't seem to be impressed: "You're a dork", they say. "Thanks, I love you too" replies the second one, and then adds: "Come on, let's finish this. Just... be careful, okay?" "Okay" says the first voice, "but if something bad happens, I'm blaming you". One last view of the cemetery. Two eyes can be seen among the bushes. They appear to be bright yellow... and they're glowing. "As always, sis" replies the second voice "as always".

  • Several views on the town's cemetery. There are no people to be seen around, just tombstones, trees and a fence surrounding the area. Two out of field voices can be heard arguing: "Did you hear that?" says the first one. "Are you kidding me?" replies the second. "You know what I mean, genius" the first voice answers, slightly pissed off. "Yeah, well, apparently we're not alone" admits the other one. "Just what I thought. I think there's at least two approaching." "Such a nice place for a walk, isn't it?" replies the second voice, ironically. The first one doesn't seem happy: "I'm trying to be serious here! Wouldn't it be better to leave? It's not like we can see shit with this rain, anyway", "Yeah, tonight kinda sucks" the second one replies, in a more serious tone "but we need that stuff. We don't have much time left".

  • Adrian turns back to see the cause of the noise: a pale-skinned, long haired man, all dressed in back, trying to get up from the ground. Judging from the look of it, he probably jumped down from one of the windows of Arthur Hawthorne's house. A closer look on the creature's mouth shows pointy teeth and blood on his lips, as Adrian keeps reminiscing the conversation he had with Aaliyah just moments earlier: "...Something went wrong." "The vampire?" "Probably, yes." The creature jumps over the half wall that surrounds Arthur Hawthorne's house. Adrian turns to the other side to see where the vampire is going.

  • Adrian turns to look at his friend: "Good luck with him, Aaliyah". "Thanks... I'll need it. You too, be careful" the woman replies. Adrian leaves Arthur Hawthorne's house. As he walks, sheriff Crawford and the officer named Paul can be seen talking outside. Adrian walks past them without being noticed. Once on the sidewalk, he starts untying his hair, which was formerly styled in a bun. In the meantime, he starts reminiscing the conversation he just had with Aaliyah: "The shapeshifter was going to replace Arthur Hawthorne." A thud. Adrian turns back to look what caused the noise. "But..."

  • "Oh, I-I'm sorry, I--" officer Paul Grant tries to justify himself, embarassed, but Sheriff Crawford interrupts him with a sigh: "Not you, Paul, I mean Webster" he raises his hand and points outside with his thumb "Jenkins, I want him out of here, now. We'll talk about this later. In my office." As soon as the two men leave, Aaliyah side-eyes her friend, clearly annoyed: "Well, thanks for making it worse, Adrian. Did you really have to react like that?" "Does he really have to be such an asshole?" Adrian snaps back, even more annoyed. Aaliyah takes a glance outside, clearly exhausted, and tries to tone it down: "He just doesn't know how to deal with the stuff you do. Like most of us, I guess" Adrian pauses, realizing that he definitely went too far: "...Point taken. I'm sorry for the trouble I caused". "Admitting it is the first step" says Aaliyah with a slightly mischievous smile "hurry up, now, before he comes back".

  • Both Aaliyah and Adrian approach the door to talk to Sheriff Crawford, who clearly doesn't look pleased. Aaliyah tries to justify herself: "Sheriff! We were just-" but Crawford cuts her off: "What is HE doing here? He's not an officer!" "Not anymore, you mean. Guess who I have to thank for that" Adrian replies, but Aaliyah is quick to nudge him to make him shut up: "He was just trying to help". "You mean that you were allowing him to do his usual... trickster bullshit" says Crawford, still angry. "The same bullshit that got your ass out of trouble for the past ten years, yes" Adrian replies back with a sarcastic smile, unable to stay silent. Aaliyah facepalms. In the meantime, a tall, red-haired young office enters the scene: "Sheriff? A moment, pl--" but Crawford isn't listening to him, still focused on Adrian: "SHUT. UP!" he barks, now more pissed off than ever.

  • Aaliyah covers her face with her hand, frustrated: "Jesus, I don't know how you manage to do this stuff for a living". "Trust me, it's less frustrating than dealing with sheriff Crawford" comments Adrian, as he gets up and starts fiddling with his gloves. Aaliyah takes a glance at the blue and red lights filtering through the window: "Speaking of whom..." - The door slams open. An old man in police uniform enters the room: "Jenkins! And... WEBSTER?!"

  • "Shapeshifters can change their appearance into that of someone else" explains Adrian, "it's a form of magic, although rare, 'cos it requires a lot of skill. It's not inherently evil, but there are always those using it for their sick purposes. Like our friend here, apparently". "Which, in plain English, would mean...?" asks Aaliyah, still confused. "The shapeshifter was going to replace Arthur Hawthorne, but something went wrong", Adrian replies. "The vampire?" "Probably, yes".

  • A transformation sequence. Arthur Hawthorne's "twin" slowly starts changing. His wrinkles disappear, his hair change color, his eyes get darker, until the true features of Kane the Shapeshifter are finally revealed: a thirty-something years old man with dark blonde, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. Aaliyah stares at him in shock, as she keeps talking to Adrian: "I'm afraid the reality might be even crazier than your former theory". Adrian doesn't seem shocked at all, as he takes another look at the two corpses on the floor, realizing what happened: "a shapeshifter? Well, that actually makes a lot more sense!" "Does it?" asks Aaliyah, out of field " 'Cause I can't keep up with this shit at all".
